I can't believe this...between rat losses and other bad news, I shall be glad when this week is over :(

This also means I'm boy free....I knew this was the idea eventually so I could concentrate on one group but wow...didn't expect it so soon :'(

RIP Pink

She had an abscess near her eye, battled with it with septrin but it moved to her eye and it ruptured. Removing it would of left her with no eyes at all so she was put to sleep :( Going to miss that little character

Can't believe it, Pupface is two whole years old today!

Harker gave me one hell of a fright!

Had to rush Harker to the vets this evening as I found her in the afternoon very limp and weak. Got an appointment for 6pm, and spent the next few hours keeping her warm,  offering her honey water and runny porridge. She had perked up considerably by the time we ended up at the vet, she even jumped back on me off the table twice. The vet listened to her heart and lungs and couldn't find anything wrong with her, he thinks she had a seizure. I need to keep an eye on her and we can discuss medication if it happens again. She has pottered about, eaten and drank but she still isn't 100% herself....hoping she feels much better by tomorrow. It is a relief that her nose is pink again, earlier it was white!

I need to think what to do now cage wise, if she has fitted it may not be a one off and reading the rat health guide it suggests giving a one storey cage. So I am thinking of making the critter cage from a two into a one and fitting it so she can't hurt herself should she fit again (I'm hoping she doesn't)

Wednesday and Rorschach seem also to be getting grief in the explorer so I'm thinking they will be Harkers company. Poor Wednesday got a cut near her eye earlier, it was lucky not to hurt the eye! They are with her at the moment to help keep her warm, and hopefully keep her spirits up, she is very sociable.

Another solution might be to half the explorer again and make one half really safe....I'm not sure though because splitting the group would be quite tricky on who would go in one half. Plus I really like it being a big cage...

Will see how Harker recovers and go from there I think 

Intros

Currently doing intros with the girls...Wednesday is still small but I like to have them introed in sooner rather than later. It seems to be going quite well, there is the usual baby overreacting but they have been snuggled up sleeping. There is also tension from Aeon, same as last time so I think she may need a day alone to let the group bond so that she accepts them. That strategy worked well last time. Want to wash the cage stuff first then hopefully they will go in nicely.

Harker- the best big sister in the world

First of all teeny runty baby has a name...She is Wednesday :D

They have been a bit shy, but are coming out of their shells. Been free ranging them on the landing with Harker, as she acts like a big kitten herself and they ADORE her. She has been lovely with them and I think playing with such an outgoing rat is rubbing off on them.

My little Atari is two today :D I gave him a cheerio put Pilot ate it -_-
He is starting to look old bless him :( He has had an abscess too so a really special treat is in order I think.

Rats vs Ice Lolly

It is currently boiling here, and the girls are hating it :( They did some frozen vegetable fishing earlier, and this afternoon they had a Ribena ice lolly as a nice cold treat :D Plus I'm dead chuffed with them cos they have litter trained themselves and have started going to the loo in the bucket. It's not what I meant them to use it for but means I can just clean out the waste :D

RIP Quinn

My little old man left me for rainbow bridge today. He will be back with his brothers Joker, Trouble and Harley, His dad and uncles, and also all his many friends. I will miss him enormously

Intros

So I have got Little My and Harker in the intro cage with the other girls and despite Aeon being very arsy they are settled down asleep together in the hammock. I will leave them over night if all keeps being well and try to move them into the explorer tomorrow. I will take out the igloos and the sputnik so there is nothing enclosed to fight over. I bet the babies will love the explorer :D
Started calling the gingers, the ginger mafia...Aeon started picking on My and they went over and pushed her away lol! Harker also looks odd in a cage full of pink and red eyed rats and her black coat sticks out like a sore thumb with the ginger, white and pink in there 


Atari has not been well , he started with a huge face abscess :( But he is on Septrin and it has gone down loads. It burst aswell (In his mouth poor lad :( ) which will of helped I think. Poor Atari

Meet...

Harker (black berkie)  and Little My (silverfawn hooded) :D

Harker is named after Mina Harker from Dracula, a pretty but dark name (plus its hard to get good pictures of her haha)
Little My is named after the character from the Moomins. She is small but determined and gutsy. 

I also made a signature picture for websites featuring my girls. I wanted to add all 12 rats but it would of been too big :(
