Rat training again

Atari has trained me that he will NOT get out of his hammock, even for choccys. So while all the other boys came down for choccy (and nearly took my fingers off they were that eager!) Atari stayed waiting patiently , knowing that I wouldnt deprive him of chocolate when everyone else had some. Even Wade pulled his bum out of the hammock for chocolate. I need to stop being so soft.....

I also have recently become obsessed with memes and LOLcats...so much so I decided to make my own

HAHAHAHA XD
This is the link if anyone wants to see it on the site, votes very much appriciated :D

Ew....

Had a right pain in the arse thing happen to me today lol

Cleaned the rats out and while i was sat talking to the lads on the bottom I sat back a bit and bumped into my dvd bookshelf thingy and heard something fall off , so i picked up what fell off and went on to clean out the lads on the top of the explorer. After I had cleaned them out , I wanted to put some Tap A Drop out. Wasn't where it should of been...I looked everywhere in the living room for it and it was no where to be seen...I had an inkling that it might of been one of the things that had fallen off the cabinet but I REALLY didnt want to go through the bin bags so I had another search , still couldnt find it. I had to get my cleaning out shovel and move the cage litter from one bin bag to another to find it! Luckily it was only about half way down the first bag , its really lucky I looked for it , otherwise it would of gone out with the rubbish tomorrow morning!

Vets Again

I really should just set up camp in the carpark...maybe buy a caravan!
Its Lola this time, with discharge from somewhere there shouldnt be any. She is now on a hefty dose of baytril for the next two weeks...I hope it works. She may be old but she needs to be around to kick butt a while later, shes top rat of the girls lol. Cant believe she is two and a half next month

Even tough boys love their mummy...

Or so my lad Trouble says lol. He has been realllllyyy grumpy the last few days ,Asbo is his whipping boy at the moment now that I have moved Taz and Ninja out of the top cage into the bottom. Taz has been a bit wheezy and I think its due to the stress of Trouble constantly flying off the handle. Things seem to be going well, Dylan has had a few goes at them but I think they are gelling back as a group. So I'm hoping things still keep going well in that department :)

I will be consulting the vets about Troubles bad moods if they dont reduce soon. I bathed him today and used a spot on incase he has mites cos he has seemed itchy recently. I'm thinking about castration but I'm not sure how much good it will do on a 20 month old rat, surely if it was hormone based it would of subsided by now. I'm hoping that its just mites making him a little tetchy and he returns back to normal. He is normally a dominant guy but he just flys into rages. I'm also considering the chances its a brain problem. Just need to wait and see if his attitude improves a little.

No matter how tetchy he is with the others , he is still all sweetness and light with me , which makes me laugh. After his bath I had him wrapped up in a towel and he was bruxing his head off. When he bruxes his eyes really boggle quite far haha.

In other rat news they all had a small piece of bread with chicken liver pate on it today...they enjoyed it a lot. My mum spoils them as much as I do lol

Trouble!

I'm sure everyone has a rat like Trouble. He is my biggest rat and has a really grumpy attitude and can be puffing and having tantrums at his fellow cage mates. His short temper was the reason I split the boys into two groups in the first place , as while he is fine with placid rats, rats who are silly or have the audacity to try and play with him (Gonzo) get pinned , puffed and told off.

So today when I saw him kicking off , I wasnt suprised. He doesn't hurt them , but it can scare the bejeezus out of more sensitive rats like Asbo. Wasn't suprised to see it was Asbo he was having a go at , so i removed Asbo out of the corner and moved Trouble to try and distract him.I then noticed blood so automatically checked Asbo but it wasn't him so checked Trouble to see one of his toes was bleeding. Cue a good while trying to stop the bleeding by putting pressure on the toe and holding the base to stop blood flow for a minute to take the pressure off. I even tried flour (Cornflour is recomended but trying to hold a squirming, bleeding rat while you root in a cupboard three feet above your head..well I used the first thing to hand) Flour got eaten, he thought it was a tasty treat. Eventually due to putting pressure on it , the toe stopped bleeding. I have suspiscion the toe was dislocated as it was bent but moved straight when i tried moving it so he must be quite sore poor lad. I have put him in the hospital cage to A) rest B) calm down. I will see how it looks in the morning, but he has cleaned it and used it to scratch with so I think all is well.

What amazed me about him is even though he is so big, he reverts to utter mummys boy with me. He is like one of the Mitchell brothers lol. Even though his toe was sore he was licking me like mad. But then again he has known me from a pinky so I guess that commands some respect.Even for a mardy boy like Trouble...I sure named him well...

Lazy Boys

There was little chance they were getting up of their own free will...they stared at me , clearly trying to ask "awww mum do we have to get up?"

Aswell as taking cute pictures I have started an experiment today. My old girl,Lola is starting to show weakness in her hind legs so to try and remedy it I am trying her on pedigree joint care. We originally got these treat sticks for the dog and they worked with him. Obviously Lola being a rat will need smaller doses so with her being about 400g and the pack being for dogs 10-15kg , i cut the stick into 32 pieces. They contain green lipped mussel powder, chondroitin and glucosamine. Hoping they work, in dogs they are meant to work within about six weeks,Im guessing they might work in a rat a little quicker but we shall see. I hope they do work shes very much still very sharp in mind and still has her sense of humour (Lolas sense of humour involves bruxing like a crazy beast then hiding her face when I try and video her doing it.) Not bad for a 28 month old
